Most of the custom projects I build are made to satisfy an idea or a design that just quite exist in the world yet. That could be an aspect that is outside the mainstream envelope of design as in some bikes with extreme geometry or built to suit a rider who is extra small or large. Sometimes it is just an unusual combination of components like a bike with disc brakes and quill stem.
I generally like a bike that is fuss-free but charming, light and lively but still durable for life. Most frames are tig-welded because it is a quick and clean way to build a bike. Fillet brazing is an option an almost any project.
